Nasser Munjee

Nasser Munjee’s career began with the creation of the Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC), India’s first mortgage company, in which he rose to become Executive Director. He helped create the Infrastructure Development Finance Company (IDFC) a partnership between the Government of India and domestic and international finance institutions, as its Managing Director and CEO. He has been a founding member of the IIHS Board since 2008.

Munjee has an active interest in academic and research institutions. He is one of India’s leading independent Directors and sits on the Boards of eight Indian public limited companies as well as many international Boards. Munjee has consulted across the world on housing finance with the ADB, World Bank, UNCDF and UN-Habitat. Munjee is a member of the Executive Committee of the World Islamic Economic Forum and on the Advisory Board of the City of London. He is also the Chair of several nonprofits including the Aga Khan Foundation (India), Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (India), and the Muniwarabad Charitable Trust and is Life Trustee of the Welham Boys’ School, Dehradun. Munjee has a BSc and MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics, UK, and was also educated at the University of Chicago, USA.
